Abstract

Additive manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, has revolutionized the field of biomedical engineering by enabling the creation of customized, patient-specific implants. This paper examines the technological advancements in AM, the methodologies for designing and fabricating implants tailored to individual anatomical and pathological needs, and the clinical outcomes associated with these innovations. An integrated approach that combines design simulation, statistical evaluation, and simulation research is adopted to assess the efficacy of AM-based implants. The findings suggest that AM enhances implant fit, reduces surgical time, and improves post-operative recovery. Moreover, the integration of AM with advanced imaging and simulation techniques promises to further refine implant customization and broaden its applications in orthopedics and maxillofacial surgery.
