The reliability and durability of powered surgical drills are crucial for ensuring patient safety and successful surgical outcomes. This study investigates the various failure modes in powered surgical drills, identifying key factors that affect their long-term performance. The analysis integrates data from laboratory tests, field performance, and statistical evaluations to assess mechanical, electrical, and material failures. A mixed-methods approach, including regression analysis and reliability testing, was employed to isolate the variables most critical to drill failure. The results underscore the importance of quality control during manufacturing and rigorous preventive maintenance protocols. The study also suggests improvements in design and material selection to enhance the longevity of these critical instruments. Recommendations include refining production processes, employing more resilient materials, and incorporating advanced sensor technologies for early failure detection. These findings contribute to the development of more robust surgical tools and provide a framework for future research into the reliability of medical devices.
