Abstract

Advanced manufacturing techniques have revolutionized the development of medical devices by enabling rapid prototyping, customized design, and improved efficiency in production. This manuscript explores the transformative effects of technologies such as additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and digital fabrication on medical device prototyping. Emphasis is placed on the enhanced ability to create patient-specific devices, the reduction in prototyping time and cost, and the implications for regulatory compliance and clinical performance. A mixed-methods research design combining a systematic literature review with experimental prototyping and case studies is employed to assess both technical and clinical impacts. Findings indicate that advanced manufacturing not only improves design iteration cycles but also facilitates a deeper integration between digital design tools and physical product realization, ultimately fostering innovation in medical device development. The paper concludes by discussing future trends, potential challenges, and areas for further research.
